Hi there, I’m Dan 👋
I’m a 3BMechatronics Engineering student at the University of Waterloo who really likes solving nuanced problems and connecting with others.
- I’m currently working @ theScore on the sports modelling MLB team :)
- I have been on WATonomous for the past year and have been leading Perceptions for the last four months. Things I’ve accomplished include designing an end-to-end perceptions pipeline which produced tracked and associated objects and a 3D LiDar object detection pipeline.
- Outside of being a technical person, I enjoy philosophy (I think of myself as an existentialist), Strength Training (on the road to a 275 lb bench), running (I am running the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 2025), and sports (primarily basketball and football)
- Fun Fact: From a lying position on the floor, I can stand up in 0.91s!
Making a digital garden (extending my mind)
The “extended mind” thesis says that the mind does not exclusively live in your brain, but rather expands to the physical world as well (think diaries, computers, phones, fingers for counting). The idea here is that external objects play a significant role in aiding cognitive processes, so, the mind and the environment should act as a “coupled system”. That being said, I’m hoping that through enough use, this digital garden can become a “second brain” to me. I started using Obsidian in March 2024.

One who works with the door open gets all kinds of interruptions, but they also occasionally gets clues as to what the world is and what might be important.”

A Note on My Notes
These notes are primarily written for myself as I am learning. As a result, they are often incomplete and don’t make sense. My goal by sharing these notes is to showcase the topics that I am interested, display my knowledge (and lack off) in a subject, and connect with others.
In June, 2023 I hiked to, and camped out at Keeha Beach in
I will never forget my ~70 yard run to the house on my first touch of the game vs CHCI.
